It's not often that we can find easy "convenience" foods that are dairy free and that we actually WANT to eat. I love baking from scratch, but we busy milk free mamas don't always have the time. I stumbled upon foods from Cherrybrook Kitchens while browsing the health food aisle of my grocery store, and was pleasantly surprised to learn that they are right here in my home state of Massachusetts! We gave the fudge brownie mix a try, and they couldn't be easier to prepare or tastier. You only need to add some melted vegan margarine, cold water, and vegetable oil to mix up a batch. I opted for a thicker, cake-like brownie, which turned out moist and delicious. The mini chocolate chips throughout the mix add even more chocolaty goodness, and no one will every guess that this brownie is free from nuts, dairy, and eggs. These are great to have on hand for a tasty and convenient dessert, and the kids will love them. Check out Cherrybrook Kitchen right here, and stay tuned for reviews of some of their other products soon!

Do you add anything extra, or just make as directed? We like Cherrybook's sugar cookies but haven't tried the brownies yet.

Hi Suzanne! I didn't add anything extra, and cooked the brownies exactly as directed. I haven't tried the cookies yet, but I'm sure they're just as good!

I made these for myself as I am dairy/egg/gluten/sesame free and a lifetime member of Weight Watchers. Instead of the 2/3 cup water, I added 1/3 cup and instead of the margarine and oil, I added 1/3 cup canned pumpkin and baked them in an 8x8 metal tin. They were moist and delicious!

Yum! I'll give it a try with the pumpkin!
