We love chicken wings in our house, and I love them even more when they're no-fuss and cook quickly. This recipe for crispy air fryer chicken wings checks all those boxes, and my whole family loves them! You only need 5 minutes of hands-on time, 3 ingredients, and about 20 minutes for cooking. They're easy, juicy, flavorful, and delicious!
These wings are great for game day, parties, appetizers, or just because you'd like healthier wings at home. Homemade air fryer wings are much healthier than takeout or store-bought options because they're made with less oil, and contain no fillers, preservatives, or artificial ingredients. These are also gluten-free and dairy-free, so they're a great option if you need something without those ingredients.
If you'd like to serve these as an entrée, they pair well with my dairy-free cornbread and a simple tomato avocado salad. A classic baked potato and a simple side salad are also great for creating a well-rounded meal.

Ingredients
One of the reasons I love these so much is that they require only 3 simple ingredients. No chopping, marinating, or long ingredient list here! Here's what you'll need:
- chicken wings
- Bragg's Sprinkle seasoning
- salt
That's it! (See the recipe card below for the quantities.)
If you're on a low-sodium diet, feel free to reduce or eliminate the salt in this recipe. The seasoning has so much flavor, you won't miss the salt!
Instructions
Preparing these wings is very simple and takes under 5 minutes. Just pat the wings very dry with a paper towel, then toss them in a large bowl with your oil and seasonings. Add them to your air fryer basket and fry for about 16 minutes. That's it!
Pat your wings completely dry with a paper towel, then toss them in a bowl with the oil, seasoning, and salt.
Lay your wings in the basket of your air fryer, being sure not to crowd them. Cook for 10 minutes, then flip. Cook for 8-10 minutes more, until browned, crispy, and cooked through.
Important tip
Pat the wings as dry as possible with your paper towel. This ensures the skin gets nice and crispy, so don't skip this step!
Your wings will have golden crispy skin, and the meat inside will be tender, moist, and juicy. To ensure the wings are cooked through, I recommend using a meat thermometer to check that the internal temperature has reached 165°F (as recommended by the USDA).
Which air fryer is best for chicken wings?
I'm using a stainless steel Cuisinart air fryer toaster oven. I love this fryer because it has a large basket with room to fit a whole pound of wings. It's also a toaster, broiler, and oven all in one. I use it every day and love it. I also like that it's stainless and there's no plastic used in the oven.
Another large air fryer that I've heard great things about is the Breville Smart Oven Air Fryer. I haven't tested this fryer, but it has a large basket that can fit a whole chicken! It also allows you to cook multiple racks at once, which is a great feature if you're a busy cook.
If you have a smaller air fryer like the Ninja, that will still work great for chicken wings. The baskets on this style fryer tend to be smaller, so you may need to fry your wings in batches to avoid overcrowding.
Tips for using your air fryer
Air fryers can vary in performance, so it's important to understand how your specific model works. For example, some fryers require preheating for a set amount of time before putting the food in. Be sure to follow the manufacturer's instructions.
Depending on the size of your fryer, you may not be able to fit all the chicken wings into your basket without crowding. Crowding is not recommended, as it won't allow the air to circulate properly around your wings and get them crispy. It may also cause smoking in your fryer. If your basket is smaller and you can't fit the whole pound of chicken wings at once, I recommend frying the wings in batches. They will come out crispy and delicious this way!
A note about air fryer smoking: occasionally air fryers will start to smoke a bit. This is more common with high-fat foods such as chicken wings because the fat can splatter inside your fryer. To avoid smoking, be sure it's clean before you preheat it. Wipe down any grease on your heating element, remove any crumbs, etc. You also want to make sure you don't overmeasure your oil and that you don't crowd your wings. If you add too much oil or too many wings at once, you could experience more splatters in your fryer and thus more smoking.
Dips for chicken wings
These are delicious as-is, but if you like to dip your wings here are some suggestions:
- Ranch - Primal Kitchen is dairy-free and made with cleaner ingredients
- Caesar - the flavor of caesar dressing goes great with these, and Primal Kitchen makes one that is delicious and dairy-free
- Barbecue - Primal Kitchen is again my favorite here, and it's unsweetened. Feel free to choose your favorite brand.
- Honey Mustard - a classic favorite and pairs great with these wings
If you like a little heat with your wings, you can also have these with your favorite hot sauce, or give them a drizzle of hot honey right before serving. The honey will make them sticky and messy to eat, but isn't that part of the fun of eating wings?!
Yes, you can! Bake them at 425°F for 45 minutes to 1 hour. Flip them over after 30 minutes. The cooking time will vary a bit depending on the size of your wings. I like to bake them on an oven-safe rack, but you can also cook them on a greased baking sheet.
